Ongoing meetings with the Town of Buena Vista Trustees, have resulted in continued progress towards approval of annexation of the property to the Town of Buena Vista, and the Cottonwood Meadows PUD plan. The third-party traffic and fiscal impact studies were both accepted by the Town. We are looking forward to finalizing agreements with the Town in March, which will pave the way for final approvals.
The Guidestone farmers have been busy this winter, working on designs for the "Distro" (Distribution Center) and dairy, and planning the upcoming season's gardens and activities. Think Spring!! |

We continue to make progress in the annexation process with the town of Buena Vista. At yesterday's town meeting, Lee Leavenworth, consulting attorney for the town, stated that Cottonwood Meadows had responded quite satisfactorily to the conditions of approval, given in the Planning and Zoning letter of recommendation dated September 6th, 2007. The Board of Trustees has scheduled a formal presentation of the fiscal and traffic impact study findings at their next regular meeting, December 11th, followed by the continuation of the Public Hearing.
Thanks to all who attended the town meeting. Cottonwood Meadow congratulates the two new trustees elected by the town yesterday, Bob Flint and Bob Zebroski. |

Autumn is upon us as the full palette of changed and fallen leaves swirl up in the chilly breeze. The farmers' harvests are in and they are planning a Pumpkin Patch and Garage Sale, Friday October 26th from 12p-6p, and Saturday October 27th from 10a - 5p. Bring the family to the farm (15264 CR 350) and take a ride in the horse-drawn wagon to the patch to pick out a pumpkin for carving. Let the kids enjoy petting the animals and other fun festivities while you check out the sale items. Proceeds of the sale will go to the Farmhands program, the educational arm of Guidestone. |

Many locals turned out for the continuation of our public hearing. It was great for us to hear the overwhelming support shown for the Cottonwood Meadows project by most public speakers, in addition to some concerns. The Trustees and Developer have committed to work sessions in October after receiving the traffic and economic impact reports. The public hearing will continue on Tuesday, November 13th, beginning at 7:00pm. |

David Lynch, Guidestone Director, hitched up Jake (dark) and Jack, his two Belgian-Percheron draft horses, to the plow. They were trying to break the sod for the additional acre of ground on the Round meadow that Seth Roberts of Weathervane Farm will put into production next spring. The horses were able to work for about an hour before David said "whoa!" for the day. "These horses are older and having been on pasture all summer, are not in condition to plow all day." David said. |

Last night's meeting of the Buena Vista Board of Trustees went well. Due to other agenda items and the presentation of the Villages at Cottonwood Meadows plan to the crowd, the Public Hearing was barely begun before it was continued to the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Trustees on September 11th at 7pm in the Community Center. |

The chickens come first at Cottonwood Meadows. Seth Roberts, of Weathervane Farm, has created a moveable chicken coop! The coop is built on a trailer frame, so it can easily be moved to a new site in minutes. A chicken run is created around the coop by using a solar-powered electric charger, which powers mesh-type fencing. The fencing keeps the chickens in and the predators out, and allows the birds access to a continually changing and fresh supply of grasshoppers, grass and other natural nutrition, while leaving behind... fertilizer! Seth gathers eggs from the coop once per day; the eggs are available at local natural food stores and at Colorado Grown, 15264 CR 350 (Crossman) on Saturday afternoons, from 1- 5pm. |
